Experts estimate that 9 or 10 percent of the population suffer from P.T.S.D.
When victims suffer from a specific traumatic event, for example, child abuse, rape, violent assault etc., the incidence of P.T.S.D. increases to between 60 to 80 percent.

Children with PTSD can usually be helped in only one session lasting about 45 minutes.

In the case of an adult with PTSD it will be likely to require a number of sessions and this would be discussed and decided during the initial consultation.

Road traffic accidents and similar traumas can often awaken old neuroses and result in irrational fears and behaviour. Very often, people who present with whiplash injuries, will be suffering from PTSD.
